Seven years ago, the first Pierres de Caractère collection was created to celebrate Van Cleef & Arpels’ centenary. Today, the Maison is once again paying homage to the beauty of gems, their enchanting hues and the emotions they evoke.

This new chapter, entitled Pierres de Caractère – Variations, gives pride of place to dazzling color combinations and exceptional stones endowed with a spiritual quality. The new high jewelry collection for 2013 focuses on exceptionally rare and colorful stones. The Oriental Princess necklace – one of the highlights of the collection – features 42 flaming-red rubies from Mozambique weighing more than 40ct. A

remarkable old cut D IF type 2A diamond glitters in the Ancolie Précieuse ring, while two emerald-cut Fancy Vivid Orangy Yellow diamonds weighing 9.04ct glow atop a pair of stunning Precious Light tassel earrings. The Zip Elegance necklace is a jewel-heavy reworking of an iconic 1951 Van Cleef & Arpels design.

Set with round diamonds, white cultured pearls and onyx and red coral motifs and beads, it fastens just like a real zip and can be worn as a bracelet.
