This year’s Los Angeles Motor Show will present GM’s most powerful convertible ever. The new 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible packs more punch than many supercars of today, like Mercedes SL 63 AMG, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Shelby GT 500 or a 2012 Aston Martin Volante. Its 6.2 liter LSA engine develops 580 HP and 754 Nm of torque.
The very-aggressive looking car had to undertake some safety modifications, in order to be controlled easier. Some reinforcements were added, like transmission support reinforcement brace, underbody tunnel brace and a tower-to-tower brace in front of the car. A tougher cradle had to be added, while GM surpluses this with a rear underbody “V” brace and a front “X” brace.
To be more precise, the whole car was reinforced; some other examples are a reinforced front hinge pillar, reinforcements inside the rockers, a bracket in the windshield header and a hydro foamed tube. We look forward to the presentation of this street-devil, and, probably, the whole muscle-car enthusiasts join us.
