NextEV, the up and coming electric car company from China that’s also involved in Formula E, has decided to take the world by storm these days by introducing their newest project, a record-setting electric supercar called NIO EP9, which brags about having 1,360 PS, all developed by electric motors.

According to the Chinese startup company, this jaw dropping vehicle will supposedly do a lap around Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 05,12 seconds, but until that’s official, the new EV went on to smash the record at Circuit Paul Ricard, in France, with a stunning time of just 1 minute and 52.78 seconds.

Designed to break all rules and records, NextEV’s project aims to be the world’s fastest electric supercar for many years to come, showing off some serious technical and manufacturing capabilities and the true potential of electric vehicles.

Four high-performance electric motors and four individual gearboxes work together to power this beauty, which delivers a total of 1-MegaWatt of power – or 1,360 PS and 6,334 Nm (4,671 lb-ft) of instant torque – which should be more than enough to deliver some serious thrills, right?

The supercar’s 777 V full electric powertrain means 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.7 seconds, a time from 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) of just 7.1 seconds and possibly a top speed of 313 km/h (194 mph). Charging will take about 45 minutes, with the driver being able to enjoy about 427 km (265 miles) on a single charge.

Aesthetically, this thing is a real stunner as well, featuring a full-length floor diffuser, a front adjustable splitter and an active rear wing that hint towards the capabilities of NextEV’s NIO EP9. So, would any F1 driver want to try this thing out?
