Vertu is yesterday’s story; today, we’re going to talk about the brand new GEMRY R12 Android smartphone that’s already making big waves in the ultra luxury smartphone universe. Designed for the wealthy players out there, the GEMRY R12 will be available in Rose Gold or diamond embellished versions, and we all know which one will get the ladies smiling.

The luxurious handset features a 5.85-inch Sapphire Crystal display, combining 18K plated rose gold sections with an ultra soft and elegant Crocodile kids leather that makes up the rear panel of the smartphone. That’s a first for a smartphone, we should add. The R12 also comes with a powerful 5000 mAh battery, which is needed to power the quad-core Qualcomm processor.

The primary camera featured on the Gemry comes with 13 megapixels, while the forward facing option is 2 megapixels. Running Android 4.1.2 (Jellybean), with no details on a possible upgrade, this smartphone seems a little outdated compared to other smartphones right now.

The Diamond edition will feature 21 VS-level real diamonds shipped straight from South Africa, that will be positioned around the ear-piece of the handset. Furthermore this edition will come with 18K rhodium and high-tech ceramic parts. Customers may customize the panel from a choice of 4 other materials – Raw Python leather, Shark leather, Lizard leather and Deer leather.

Gemry also stands out by allowing its customers to connect to a special service via video, with a dedicated button installed right on the device. The special treatment includes assistance with travel arrangements, general knowledge assistance, legal aid and much more. The GEMRY R12 handsets range from $2,400 (€2,185) to $4,800 (€4,370), which makes Vertu handsets seem like another smartphone.
