Baccarat Releases Rouge 540 Fragrance to Celebrate 250th Anniversary

A quarter of a millennium is a long time and it’s only the finest brands that make it to this respectable age. One of these prestigious companies is the French crystal manufacturer Baccarat. To celebrate this milestone, the company is releasing the limited edition Rouge 540 fragrance.

The perfume got its name due to the fact that 550 degrees Celsius is the temperature molten crystal has to reach to turn into the red Baccarat color featured on the pipette. The bottle, on the other hand, is based on a George Chevalier (Baccarat’s artistic director from 1916 to the 1970s) design dating back to 1942.

Finally, the scent itself is the work of Francis Kurkdjian and is a blend of ambergris, blood orange, citrus peels, and woods, which create a “woody amber floral essence”.

Since this release is meant to celebrate Baccarat’s 250th anniversary, it’s only appropriate that only 250 bottles will be created. Rouge 540 is available at Harrods and this expensive cologne is priced at £3,000 (about $4,800) for 100ml.
