Atelier Boronski designed this interesting suburban house dubbed as T-House on a small hill overlooking Kyoto, Japan, for a young couple who wanted a modern home. The house is conceived as a simple container with private spaces lodged almost randomly within. But with lovely views in all directions the randomness is orchestrated.
The main living, dining and kitchen area on the first floors opens onto the main terrace facing a small garden to the east which allows classical indoor and outdoor living. The ceiling height at this level varies from 2.5 m to 7.5m which makes this house even more interesting.
The T-House has two main bedrooms which bridge the building with north/south facing walls of glass that allow the external cladding to continue into the rooms. The bathroom on the second floor also has a large internal window overlooking the garden and a guest bedroom on the third floor pushes straight out to the west.
Below this guest bedroom there are two small terraces that spatially overlap. On the third floor there is a second lounge area and a viewing platform that bridges the main void and allows guests to enjoy sweeping views of the city to the east.
