I reckon around three years have passed since Crystal Cable have unveiled the stunning Arabesque. The extremely costly loudspeakers, priced at $65,000 a pair, have received the SoundStage. The same Dutch brand is now coming up with a set of two-way speakers that exude the essence of the Arabesque – a pair of the Arabesque Mini, entirely crafted from aluminium.
They are working on exactly the same COMSOL FEA software, just like the original loudspeakers. They feature solid aluminium panels, beveled top and bottom, unlike the glass-cabineted Arabesque. An important functional purpose is accomplished by the differently manufactured panels, in terms of width, alongside the overall complex curved form of the speakers – put shortly, they are designed like this in order to dissipate the standing waves and the mechanical energy within their volumes. The internal air mass is terminated by a tiny feature in the tail of the cabinets, while also allowing Crystal to part any damping or internal wadding.
There is also a list of specifications which has been published, perfectly describing the capabilities of these loudspeakers: near-wall frequency response of 45 Hz – 40 kHz, -3dB, efficiency of 86 dB/2.83V/m, less than 0.5% of distortion from 120 Hz to 20 kHz, lower than 1% below 120 Hz, a, sort of, light 40 pounds overall weight without stands, a negligible nominal impedance of 8 Ohms and in-room.
Measuring 13 inches in height, 12.5 inches in width and 11.5 inches in depth, these speakers are easily mountable within your private confines. Beware though, they are still powerful enough to wake up your neighbors. The price is quite high, to say the least – $25,000 for a pair, plus $1,000 per pair of matching stands.
