The most powerful version of the brand new luxury SUV from Mercedes-Benz, the 2012 Mercedes ML63 AMG, has been revealed by the German automaker with full details and official photos. Under the hood, it will feature a 5.5-liter V8, adding 15 more HP than the old 6.3-liter V8, but the most important part is the 33 percent better fuel efficiency, with an average consumption of 14.7 liters per 100km (16 mpg).
The engine produces 520 HP and 700 Nm of torque. If the car has the AMG option, they can get to 550 HP and 760 Nm. The car shoots from naught to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, while its maximum speed is set around 155 mph (250 km/h); the AMG package, though, has a 0-60 mph of 4.6 seconds and a maximum speed of 174 mph (280km/h).
The AMG Speedshift Plus 7 transmission allows for three different driving modes: Sport (S), Manual (M) or Controlled Efficiency (C). You guessed it, Control Efficiency is the most recommended one and this option activates the ML 63 AMG’s Start/Stop System automatically.
Concerning visual characteristics, the new ML AMG has a very aggressive look, due to its bumpers and skirts, while the low center of gravity and its twin-pipe exhaust system make it look sleek, though it’s quite a big auto representative. There were no financial announcements made yet, Daimler declaring that this version will be put on market by the beginning of 2012.
