Watch out Tesla – There’s a new electric supercar in town, and it means business! Based on the super cool Corvette C7, the Genovation GXE was designed to be the world’s fastest street-legal all-electric vehicle, with official specs teasing us with heart-stopping top speeds of 205.6 mph (331 km/h).

If all that sounds exciting, please note that the company based in Rockville, Maryland, is now accepting pre-orders for the C7-inspired EV, sans the noise and American grunt of the Corvette, of course. But Genovation’s GXE looks equally cool, and it benefits from 660 hp and 600 lb-ft (813 Nm) of torque, thanks to a state-of-the-art battery management system, inverters, more batteries, and electric motors.

With a range of only 130 miles (209 km) at normal speeds and relatively normal operating conditions, things might look a bit disappointing at first glance, but we’re sure you’ll feel amazing behind the wheel.

The near perfect weight distribution, and the optimized center of gravity aim to make up for that small range, while the GXE and its four round tail lights are reminiscent of previous Corvette models. One way or another, these are exciting days we are living, and you should know that Genovation Cars plans to build only 75 vehicles like this, each of them priced at a staggering $750,000 – made to order and according to customer desire.

Potential buyers will be required to submit a $250,000 deposit, but they will have to wait for their super fast electric car at least until 2019 – which is a lot, considering how dynamic the EV market has become right now.
