If you were waiting for some good news from Roger Dubuis, your wait is over. The Swiss watchmaker has just unveiled a brand new pocket watch, called Roger Dubuis Hommage Millesime. Featuring an impressive design and a gorgeous pink gold finish, this timepiece is powered by a restored vintage pocket watch movement.
If the restoration process of the movement won’t convince you that this watch is truly special, we need to tell you that Roger Dubuis will only produce a single piece of this chic pocket watch per year, that will be available exclusively at the brand’s brand boutiques. This particular Roger Dubuis Hommage Millesime will reside at the upcoming Roger Dubuis brand boutique in Geneva, scheduled to open in July of 2015.
As the first of its kind, the Roger Dubuis Hommage Millesime will probably get a lot of attention, and for good reason. Such an incredible timepiece requires a lot of time, effort, and incredible attention to details; so, you should not expect it to come cheap, especially since it’s produced in a very, very limited run.
The idea for this watch started when Mr. Roger Dubuis himself gifted a vintage pocket watch movement to the company, for them to restore and turn into the Roger Dubuis Hommage Millesime. The talented team has added some interesting features to the movement, which was dubbed the Roger Dubuis caliber RD181. About 1,950 hours of work were spent in the restoration and re-engineering of the movement, which operates at 18,000 bph and is produced from 558 parts.
Developed to be skeletonized and open through the dial of the watch, the movement features the time, a monopusher chronograph, a perpetual calendar with some retrograde indicators, a moon phase indicator, and a minute repeater. Designed in line with the Hommage watch collection, the Roger Dubuis Hommage Millesim boasts a 60 mm wide case in 18k pink gold, 22 mm thick, and even includes a signature from Mr. Roger Dubuis.
Various special details will get your attention, such as the ruby crystal that’s located in one of the pushers, as well as a lapis lazuli background for the moon phase indicator. Furthermore, the company will create custom links for the 18k gold pocket watch chain, which can have special engravings on them if the customers request it.
