The S65 AMG Coupe has been officially revealed by Mercedes-Benz.
There aren’t too many differences between the new S65 AMG Coupe and the S63 AMG Coupe. Both feature the same unostentatious look Mercedes-Benz and AMG prefer to use for their high-powered models, with some of the changes being the addition of a shinier mesh for the front grille and vents or yellow brake calipers instead of red. Unique wheels, a more prominent rear diffuser, and the “V12 BITURBO” insignia are the other more notable differences.
The car is powered by a V12 6.0-liter twin-turbo engine which churns out 630 PS (463 kW) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque. This allows it to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.1 seconds (0.2 seconds faster the S63 AMG Coupe), on its way to the electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph in Europe and 186 mph in the USA.
Power is channeled to the rear wheels through an AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC, while the sports Magic Body Control suspension features the familiar curve tilting function. The vehicle rides on 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels wrapped around in 255/40 R 20 front and 285/35 R 20 rear tires, which can be fitted (for an additional fee) with a ceramic compound brake system which is 20 percent lighter.
The Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Coupe can already be ordered in Germany and will also become available in the USA later this year. Pricing starts at € 244,009.5 (VAT included), which is the equivalent of about $330,000.
