Fifty Shades of Grey is about to hit the theaters one day before Valentine’s Day and it’s already looking like it’s going to be a hit. Set in Seattle, a lot of the plot revolves around Christian Grey’s lavish penthouse, which is actually inspired by a real place – an apartment at the Escala, one of the city’s most most luxurious residential buildings, which is on its way to becoming a local landmark.
Long before the movie’s release, the most expensive penthouse in the building, a 5,100 square-foot pad, was sold for $6.2 million, the highest price paid in Seattle for such a residence in three years. There still are other, smaller apartment available, and even through they’re nothing like the one Christian Grey inhabits (no Red Room, sadly), the building’s real estate broker reports being bombarded by requests for photoshoots and one night stays.
These six penthouses are each available for prices starting at $1.8 million and offer great panoramic views of the city, Elliott Bay, and the Olympic Mountains. And with the movie’s release, the property value is only going to go up!
