David Caon teamed up with Juicy Design to create the Soundscape Sofa, a free standing retail concept built for Audi Technica’s retail space in Sydney, Australia. This sofa is a structure upon which customers can sit and relax while sampling products from the audio company.
The Soundscape comes equipped with six touch screen listening docks that allow the users to either browse through an “inboard” catalogue of music or plugin their own audio device to listen to through the headphones. Each dock has a different pair of headphones and the software which powers the touch screens was custom designed for this application making this sofa truly bespoke.
The Soundscape Sofa was built from 66 layers of 12 mm Echo Panel board cut by waterjet. It was originally created as a 3d sculpture and then horizontally sliced at 12 mm intervals to create these layers.
