Having been pretty successful in a niche business venture for the past seven years, The Art of Dale Mathis has quickly become one of the most important names in the world of mechanized art and gadgetry. The brand was founded in a small warehouse, in Las Vegas, as a small hobby, but quickly grew as a flourishing business.

This may be owed partly to the clientele – high profile customers from all over the world, with reports stating 1 percent of society, museums, corporations, interior designers and ultimately the Prince of Qatar. The Mechanical Card Set, one of the new members of the Dale Mathis collection, will reportedly be put into mass production around mid November 2013, while delivers are expected to take place by the end of February 2014.

The set includes standard sized poker cards, in Bee stock paper, while the tuck box forms the main part of the playing cards. It is fitted with a metal mechanism which, when played, instantly transforms the cards into gorgeous artworks. The deck seems to be placed against the frame, which sports a magnetism-based mechanism whose purpose is to hold the device together.

The Dale Mathis Mechanical Card Set is available in three deck color options, silver, gold and black. The tri-dimensional deck is crafted from stainless steel and garnished with 24-carat gold-plated gears. Depending on the color choices, the prices vary by a considerable bit. For example, the blackout deck can be purchased for $49, the silver one can be had for $25, while the gold set costs $30. The gold-plated 3D stainless steel deck costs $480 though, but this one’s limited edition since its sale with be closed with the Kickstarter campaign. Would you play them?
