Carbon fiber watch bracelets are not exactly new – they were designed for highly complicated watches, usually part of a super limited series, with ridiculous price tags. But Swiss luxury watchmaker Zenith aims to change that and make them available for us all.
The Swiss brand revealed the first solid carbon bracelet for an automatic watch, which is their way of saying that their designers are responsible for an unprecedented technical achievement. We will just have to decide that for ourselves; am I right?
The Zenith DEFY Classic Carbon, already talked about as a groundbreaking piece, features a full carbon fiber construction which is why it weighs in at just 65 grams – carbon bracelet and titanium clasp, included.
Ultra light indeed, the carbon iteration of the iconic DEFY Classic is so well balanced that you will almost forget that you have a watch on your wrist. With an emphasis on ‘almost’.
Due to the fact that each carbon fiber link in the timepiece’s bracelet has been molded and milled, each watch is able to display a unique pattern. If you don’t want this unique carbon fiber strap, a black rubber Cordura-effect strap, with a carbon and titanium folding buckle, is also on offer, but I’m pretty sure most of you would go for the first option.
Packing the automatic Elite manufacture calibre, this stunning watch shows off an open dial with a star-shaped motif, while a dark treatment in ruthenium adds a cool vibe to this overall sleek timepiece. Is anyone else thinking about Matrix?
Rest assured, legibility is not an issue. Bright green Super-LumiNova was added on the blackened hands and applied hour markers to make sure you can always tell the time.
With everything looking awesome, the DEFY Classic Carbon will be released on the market pretty soon – if Santa does not deliver it in time, you can always start the next year with your dream watch.
