Completed in 2011, Enigma Mansion is thought to be the most luxurious and expensive property of kind currently on the market in South Africa.
Set in the affluent The Glen neighborhood, one of Cape Town’s most sought-after areas, the estate includes the 17,000-square-foot residence, as well as a 2,800-square-foot two-bedroom guest house and a single-bedroom guest cottage. The mansion’s interior features high ceilings and such lavish amenities like handmade Louis XIV-replica door handles from Argentina, Persian silk carpets from London, light fittings from California, hand-printed wall coverings from Paris, and Versace tableware from Italy. Of the entire three-story home, the master suite is particularly impressive, boasting its very own living room, walk-in wardrobes, two en-suite bathrooms, and terraces overlooking the gardens.
The estate’s IT system alone cost over $1 million and needed a couple of years of planning, setting up and testing – but it was all worth it and the results can be seen throughout the three houses. There are iPads everywhere providing full control of heating, air conditioning, lights, curtains, alarm system, CCTV, and entertainment systems.
Enigma Mansion, one of South Africa’s most desirable properties, is currently looking for new owners and is priced at a hefty $31 million.
