Last year, Swiss watch and mechanical art maker MB&F impressed with the release of their spaceship-themed limited edition music box called the MusicMachine. Now the brand is following up with another similar gadget, this time shaped to resemble the iconic starship USS Enterprise, from the Star Trek universe.

Called the MusicMachine 2 (MM2), it is the result of a collaboration between MB&F, who is responsible for the concept and design, and Reuge, a company with 150 years of experience in crafting music boxes, who actually manufactured it. JMC Lutherie, a Swiss company specializing in resonance systems, also played a part in the process and developed the MM2’s innovative soundboard.

The MusicMachine 2 features two independent movements located on the starship’s tail section, with each cylinder playing three melodies. On one channel there are the Star Wars main theme and Imperial March, in addition to the Star Trek theme, while on the other there’sLed Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven, The Rolling Stones` Angie, and The Clash’s Should I Stay or Should I Go?

A cool gadget for sci-fi fans, as well as for anyone who appreciates a great-looking high-end music box, the MusicMachine 2 was released as a limited edition comprising 33 pieces in white and 66 in black.
