The stunning set was recently evaluated to be worth above $150,000 and will reportedly be auctioned via Charity Buzz. Officials of the site have disclosed that the proceeds from the sale, expected to continue until the 21st of March, will be directed towards an institution called Stuart’s House – it deals with providing with a better life the sexually abused children and their families.
Technically, the McIntosh X John Varvatos SoHo Audio System sports a 1,200-Watt MC 1.2 kW amplifier set, C50 Stereo pre-amplifier, MPC 1500 power conditioner for an optimal sound experience, MEN220 room correction system and XRT1K loudspeakers. In addition, the system comes with a nostalgic MT5 Precision Turntable, a perfect source of old musical memories.
The winner of the auction will not only be given this state of the art audio system, but also the chance to embark on a private tour of the McIntosh factory in Birmingham assisted by the brand’s president, Charlie Randall. Alongside him, the designer of the set, John Varvatos, will also be present, detailing the story behind the design, development and manufacture of this system.
