Recognized as the most valuable necklace in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2013, the L’Incomparable diamond necklace features a monstrous price tag of $55 million. The egg-sized diamond necklace, is on sale at a jewelery show in Singapore, reflecting Asia’s growing appetite for precious gems and expensive baubles.

The necklace, designed by the famed luxury jeweler Mouawad, features a yellow, internally flawless diamond of more than 407 carats suspended from a rose gold setting that’s studded with 90 white diamonds weighing nearly 230 carats. “Serious interest” has been expressed by a couple of potential buyers from Asia, said Jean Nasr, managing director of Mouawad in Singapore, declining to identify their nationalities – “The potential buyer of such jewelry will look from a different perspective, it is definitely an investment.”

The main diamond of the necklace was found by chance in a dump by a little girl in the Democratic Republic of Congo, about 30 years ago. L’Incomparable will be main attraction from the JewelFest Singapore event, which will be held in Singapore from October 11 to 20.
