Located within the picturesque French town of Carcassonne, one of Europe’s largest fortified citadels, Hôtel de la Cité is a wonderful spot for those who want to experience a bit of history in their travels.

The city’s great location and unique features mean that guests get to not only enjoy great views of the Aude River, Lauragais Valley, and Minervois vineyards, but can also spend a few unforgettable days in a place seemingly from another time.

The hotel itself also has the air if a medieval inn, albeit a luxurious one, with its stone walls, wood paneling, and stained glass windows. It comprises 42 rooms and 19 suites, all different from one another, but boasting the same high levels of finish and comfort. Another one of the hotel’s attractions is the Michelin-starred La Barbacane Restaurant, where guests can the chef’s unique culinary creations alongside an excellent regional wine.

Hôtel de la Cité is also great as a starting point for exploring the beautiful area around Carcassonne, whether it’s the castles and other historical sites, the vineyards, or the Aude River.
