Everybody knows about the very expensive, very pricy real estate in places like Los Angeles, New York, or Miami, but there’s another spot in North America where the very wealthy are willing to pay heaps of money to buy a residence there: Vancouver, Canada. The latest huge deal was reportedly concluded a few months ago relatively discretely, though the value of the transaction would warrant a bit more attention.

The property stretches across 2.7 acres in the affluent Point Grey area and features a magnificent 25,000 square-foot European-style home which has all the makings of a sumptuous palace. In addition to the beautiful landscaped gardens, extensive lawns, and a grass tennis court, the estate also boasts a detached guest house, a self-contained studio, and even waterfalls, as well as stunning views of downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park, and the North Shore Mountains.

Previously the home of former Electronic Arts executive Don Mattrick, currently the CEO of Zynga, this is now the residence of Chinese-born businessman Mailin Chen, who reportedly paid a whopping CAD$51.8 million for the property (the equivalent of about $40.5 million, in US currency).
