Electric vehicles are gaining more and more popularity, especially in eco-friendly, tech-oriented (not to mention affluent) places like California. This is where a start-up called Renovo Motors comes from and its first project is an exciting electric vehicle called the Renovo Coupe.
Built upon a modified Shelby continuation series chassis, the Renovo Coupe outputs an impressive 500 horsepower and 1,000 lbs-ft of torque. All this power comes from a pair of Sequential Axial Flux motors, which is stored in the vehicle’s HVP 740-volt lithium ion battery pack.
The car features adjustable dampers, serious springs, and unequal length A-arms, as well as three-piece wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The Renovo Coupe can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds and has an estimated range of 100 miles, which isn’t bad for an electric vehicle. When the batteries run out, the car can be fully recharged in five hours, while a quick charge will take just 30 minutes.
Deliveries for the Renovo Coupe, which was recently showcased at Pebble Beach, are expected to begin in 2015. The price hasn’t been disclosed yet, but expect it to be somewhere around $500,000.
