BMW Japan came to the Osaka Motorcycle Show with two amazing customs, created by two of the country’s biggest names in the field: Keiji Kawakita (Hot Dock Custom Cycles) and Kenji Nagai (Ken’s Factory). Both models are based on the K1600 GTL, BMW’s top-of-the-range tourer, a bike boasting a 1649cc inline six engine and more electronic systems than any other commercial bike today.
Firstly, there’s Hot Dock’s ‘Juggernaut,’ an aptly named, bulky machine with a completely new aluminum bodywork, and something of a menacing vibe about it. Aluminum pipes, a matte grey livery, and engine cases refinished with an aging effect – all of these combine to create an awesome motorbike which wouldn’t look out of place in a post-apocalyptic dystopian flick.
Secondly, Ken’s Factory has heavily modified the look of the K1600 GTL, which resulted in the creation of a low-slung, dragbike with all non-essentials stripped away. The entire rear end of the frame is gone, while the front has been stretched and raked. The entire bike seems to be an exercise in frugality, as even the seat is crafted from aluminum! Certainly not a motorcycle you’d consider for a long journey, but it will definitely turn heads on the road either way.
