Designer Troy Huang was probably thinking New York deserves even more light, especially since sometimes the city in question isn’t associated with the best of reputations. Regardless, he invested more time and energy than you could think of to pay an homage to the Big Apple, by creating a wonderful miniature model of the entire city scape, which is now on display in a one of a kind desk.

Living in the city from the age of 14 was somewhat of an inspiration for Troy Huang, not to mention help, in the rather ambitious efforts of this man. With the help of GIS-based information of the city, a laser cut map of Manhattan was created and each building was 3D printed; it took seven weeks to recreate this large city scape, and the efforts paid off.

Once it was all over and done, the New York City desk was covered by a glass top, making this an incredibly great looking and functional piece of furniture. To top it all off, the designer has also created color changing lights for that extra effect that will charm everyone in just a matter of seconds.

Troy Huang has other projects like this one planned for the future, with Chicago being the most probable starting point. You should know that the miniature NYC desk costs $25,000 on his website and it’s probably worth every single penny. We’d love to admire the finished product live.
