Part of the watchmaker’s second series of the Reverso Watch, the gorgeous Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso honors the immensely talented and world-renowned artist Vincent van Gogh. The Swiss luxury watch maker has teamed up with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam to introduce this Reverso à Eclipse watch, featuring an enameled miniature of the painter’s iconic self-portrait right on the dial.
Some of you might remember that the aforementioned masterpiece is one of Van Gogh’s most famous artworks, on display in the permanent collection of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. This awesome watch was inspired by the idea of creating a piece that benefited from craftsmanship, art and heritage, thus being worthy of bearing the artist’s name.
This Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso also features small shutters, which reveal a miniature recreation of Van Gogh’s work. Those of you keeping a record on the company’s creations might remember that the 2015 series also featured van Gogh’s iconic Sunflowers.
The Reverso à Eclipse is a unique reversible watch, with a platinum case and powered by the in-house Jaeger-LeCoultre caliber 849, but the most interesting feature about this timepiece is definitely its miniature enamel painting.
One of the rarest fine art traditions, this unique craftsmanship demands a steady hand, virtuosity and patience. As such, you can understand why only four pieces of this watch will be ever made, and there’s no word on pricing or potential orders – something expected of a work of art bearing the van Gogh name.
