A legend in the world of watches and jewelry, the Swiss watch and jewelry dealer Bucherer is back into the spotlight with a new addition to their Blue Editions collection. The renowned IWC Portugieser Chronograph Classic, is now available in a gorgeous red gold edition, limited to only 88 pieces.
Now encased in a warm red gold case, their notorious blue dial, reminding of mighty skies, never ending seas and historic seafarers’ adventures around the world, doesn’t cease to astonish with its noblesse by giving its wearers a distinct classy look.
While not that different to the previous Blue Editions, the red gold version does make for a subtle harmonious contrast between the stunning blue dial and the warmth of the red gold finish of the hands, counters and the rest of the case. The watch does a wonderful overall impression with a clever and organized dial and every little detail integrated perfectly with the rest of the watch.
The result of a wonderful collaboration between the House of Bucherer and some of the world’s most renown watch makers, the Blue Editions bring together the sea-inspired color blue as the central theme of the collection and the precision of the very best nautical instruments that courageous sailors of the past used in their discovery of the modern world.
With a long tradition of crafting fine lasting timepieces, the Swiss watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen has teamed up with Bucherer to bring their legendary Portugieser Chronograph Classic a more elegant look, by including 18k red gold, making the famous watch that much more special.
Add to that the 42 mm case with a decent height of the watch of 14.2 mm, the in house automatic movement, chronograph calibre 89361, with flyback function, a vertical clutch and column-wheel, integrated architecture, a 4 Hz frequency and a good 68 hours power reserve and you get one fine timekeeping piece. There’s nothing new under the hood to the red gold edition as opposed to the other Blue Editions pieces, but we have to admit that the visual upgrade is simply stunning.
The gold hands and numerals on the brisk blue dial, in addition to the warm gold tone of the case and the serene smooth brown of the alligator strap made by the shoe maker Santoni satisfies even the most pretentious eyes. There’s simply nothing to reproach.
Each and every one of these 88 stunning timepieces will only be available at Bucherer boutiques in Europe with a price tag of EUR 21,900 ($25,300). They are so exclusive that you will have to come in and pick them up yourself, as they chose not to ship them.
