French luxury hotelier Sofitel has recently unveiled their new flagship 5-star hotel in Ivory Coast’s capital, Abidjan.
Set in the high-end Cocody district, Sofitel Abidjan Hôtel Ivoire blends the well-known French eye for luxury with African culture to create something graceful and unique. The 209-room hotel was designed by architect Moshe Mayer in 1963, and got a full face-lift in 2011, before reopening under the Sofitel name in February 2014.
All 209 rooms are stylish and luxurious, with the two presidential suites being the definite stand-outs. The hotel also boasts two great restaurants: the Toit d’Abidjan, offering a great 180° view of the Ivorian capital from the 23rd floor and the Ebrie Lagoon, and La Gourmandise, where traditional Africa meets exquisite French cuisine.
With plans to double the number of rooms, as well as adding a spa, casino and more, Abidjan’s Hotel Ivoire is bound to become of the city’s highlights when it comes to luxury and class.
