If you’ve been following us for some time, or if you’re a motorcar enthusiast in general, you know there are lots car tuners around, many of which have become big names in the industry. Interestingly enough, there are companies that do the same for timepieces – and one of these is the Bamford Watch Department (BWD), which specializes in steel sports watches.
Recently, the brand has teamed up with prestigious watchmaker Rolex and acclaimed L.A.-based designer Darren Romanelli (DRx) in order to create an awesome line of special edition timepieces featuring iconic comic book characters as Flash Gordon and The Phantom.
This release aims to find that balance between two worlds not usually associated which each other: the world of fine watches and the comic book universe. The two timepieces used here are Rolex Explorer II (Flash) and a Submariner Non Date (The Phantom), both totally scratch resistant and created with Military Grade Titanium Coating (MGTC), making them almost as solid and durable as the heroes they portray.
No word on the pricing for these striking watches, but estimates put it squarely in the five figures.
