While there has been some talk about a potential collaboration between BMW’s motorsports (M) and hybrid (i) divisions; there were even rumors of a supercar called the M9, which was supposed to be released by the company in 2016 to celebrate its 100th anniversary. All this speculation was strongly denied by the carmaker, so for now all we have is the work of independent designers trying to imagine what the M9 would look like if it was to be developed and released.
In this case, the model is rendered in the wild by Romanian designer Razvan Radion, and it looks really nice. Based on the i8, it would be equipped with an engine outputting upwards of 500 hp and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque, making it on par with most releases from Porsche, Lamborghini, or Ferrari – especially if it kept the i8’s lightweight frame.
Even if BMW won’t be releasing a hybrid supercar any time soon, we can be certain that the German giant is cooking something amazing for its 100th birthday. We’ll just have to wait and see exactly what that is.
