New York-based luxury brand Harry Winston has launched the Z8 Dual Time during this year’s Baselworld. The Z here stands for Zalium a trademark zirconium alloy that is harder and lighter than titanium used in the manufacturing of this watch. The movement for the Z8 is provided by Blancpain and is, together with the Zalium, exclusive to Harry Winston.
We’ve seen where half of the timepiece’s name comes from, so let’s explain the other part. The watch displays the time in two different zones, with the hands displaying the home time, while the retrograde display shows the local time (something which makes it perfect for people who travel a lot and need to be aware of the time in multiple locations).
The Z8 Dual Time is made from 281 components, including 32 jewels, a flat silicon balance spring and a white gold open-worked oscillating weight. This stylish caliber also features a circular Côtes de Genève motif that you will only see on Harry Wilson watches.
Released as a limited edition, 300-piece collection, each Z8 will cost about $23,000.
