Leave it to Lamborghini to finally turn the hybrid into something awesome: the Italian carmaker is showcasing the Asterion LPI 910-4 concept during this month’s Paris Motor Show.

In a truly unexpected move, Lamborghini has combined the Huracan’s V10 5.2-liter naturally aspirated 610 hp (449 kW) engine with three electric motors adding another 300 hp (220 kW), everything connected to a seven-speed DSG. This setup yields the most powerful Lamborghini ever made, one that churns out a massive 910 hp (669 kW).

This means the Asterion can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 3 seconds, on its way to an impressive top speed of 199 mph (320 km/h). When running purely on electric power, the vehicle can reach a respectable 78 mph (125 km/h) and has a range of 31 miles (50 km). When driven in hybrid mode, the Asterion has a combined fuel consumption of only 4.2 liters / 100 km (56 mpg US or 67.2 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of just 98 g/km.

The Asterion comes in a Blue Elektra livery and sits on 20-inch front & 21-inch rear carbon fiber shod in Pirelli tires. The inside is minimalistic in design, one notable feature being that the two seats are placed higher compared to usual Lamborghinis in order to offer a more comfortable ride.

However exciting the news of a Lamborghini hybrid that can reach almost 200 mph is, keep in mind this is still a concept – there are no concrete plans to actually manufacture a commercial version of this “hyper cruiser” (as the Italian company describes it), at least not in the foreseeable future.
