This extremely rare Ferrari 250 GTO used to be priced at just £6,000 when it was launched and manufactured back in 1963. Nowadays, it was sold for a mind-boggling £20 million or roughly $31 million if you’re American. The model 5095 GTO has supposedly been sold by the Brittish businessman Jon Hunt that had previously bought the vehicle for a humongous £15.7 million.
Thus, this classic Ferrari sports-car becomes the second-most expensive car on the planet, by far the most expensive in Great Britain. Its cost is only exceeded by a 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC sold for a whopping $40 million in 2010. The 250 GTO was produced in 39 units, between 1962 and 1964, the owners having been particularly selected by Enzo Ferrari in person.
The car features a 3-liter V12 engine producing 300 HP, reaching 62 mph from a standstill in 6.1 seconds. Its top speed used to be 174 mph, but has probably gone a bit down, due to the time passing. If checking the numbers, you’d probably say it isn’t worth the sum, but considering the numbers of 250 GTOs ever produced, it’s both a rarity and an automotive treasure.
