V-MODA has just unveiled the world’s first 3D printed, custom-designed headphones, which will set you back anywhere between $200 and $40,000 depending on the materials used. The high fidelity headphones will be available in a variety of materials including fiber, stainless steel, raw, plated and precious metals such as solid gold and platinum.

For years, V-MODA has been struggling with designing custom headphones with laser-engraved shields for audiophiles. Their latest product is truly a game-changer, since this is the first time in history mass customization merges jewel-grade 3D printing with consumer electronics.

Inspired and sculpted in V-MODA’s design studio in Milano, the 3D shields are made in New York. Customers will be able to fully customize their headphones right on V-MODA’s website, selecting the base color, the 3D shield material and their design and monogram; moreover, they can even upload their own design.

Precious metal shields are commissioned works of art and the ultimate symbol of bespoke luxury. Available in sterling silver, solid 14k gold, 14k rose gold, 14k white gold or platinum to reflect your personal style, these headphones will easily be considered as a fashion statement and a social status announcement. All precious metal offerings include a lifetime warranty on the headphones and the option to upload your own design for 3D sculpting by V-MODA’s Italian designers.

Prices vary, depending on your option. The Sterling Silver version will cost $430 for on-ear and $650 for over-ear shield kits,  $620 with XS and $900 with Crossfade M-100. Solid Gold versions will set you back $4,000-5,500 for on-ear including XS and $9,000-12,800 for over-ear including Crossfade M-100 while Platinum models will go for around $12,000-16,000 for on-ear including XS, $27,000-40,000 for over-ear including Crossfade M-100.
