It is an unbelievably nice timekeeping machine and a great feat of technological strength – the Christophe Claret X-TREM-1 Pinball. The Pinball timepiece boasts not only with a revolutionary design, but also with staggering mechanisms and a design to remember for your entire life.
This is in fact Christophe Claret’s piece to be on display at the Only Watch 2013. An evolved version of the previous X-TREM-1, which was unveiled last year, the Pinball has been clearly garnished with a gaming theme. The timepiece involves two metal cages, pinball-styled, containing the magnetically maneuvered balls which mark minutes and hours. The dial boasts a rectangular shape displaying the famous pinball theme through a series of gorgeously decorated gear wheels alongside a ‘Tilt’ marker at the top of the case. The setting and winding of the watch are done from the back of the case, just like the X-TREM-1.
In addition to all these, the Pinball watch sports a flying tourbillion inclined at an angle of 30 degrees, mounted upon a 3D curved mainplate. In case you’re wondering where do the XTREM initials come from, here’s an eye-opener – X-eXperimental, T-Time, R-Research, E-Engineering and M-Mechanism.
It will probably cost somewhere above half a million American dollars if you ask me, as the technology involved into the making is extraordinary, while the watch itself is a unique artwork.
