The Chinon Bellami Digital Super 8 Camera Brings the Iconic Device into the 21st Century

For those who are nostalgic for the 70s, Japanese company Chinon has created a modernized version of the iconic Super 8 Camera, which was very popular a few decades ago.

Although filming actual Super 8 footage might have its charm, especially for those who appreciate the grainy, vintage style – that would probably not be practical for the majority of modern users. So the Chinon Bellami HD-1 Digital Super 8 Camera has the look and feel of the old device, but actually shoots modern, HD video. To be more precise, the camera can shoot 1080p video at 30fps, which is not particularly impressive if you’re a professional, but it will do the job for most people. As we’ve mentioned earlier, it’s more about the camera’s aesthetics and the nostalgia it evokes than anything else.

The Chinon Bellami HD-1 camera is currently only available in Japan, however it is expected to arrive in the US later this year, with a price tag of about $850 attached to it.
