Two of Italy’s finest and most famous brands, Maserati and Bulgari, are celebrating significant milestones this year: for the acclaimed jeweler, it’s the 130th birthday, while for the legendary carmaker 2014 is actually the centenary year. To mark these occasions in style, the two companies have teamed up to create an excellent sports watch: the Bulgari Octo Maserati chronograph.

The partnership actually dates back to 2012, with the release of the Octo Quadri-Retro Chronograph, adorned with the colors of the luxury vehicle manufacturer. The Octo Maserati, however, is something truly special. It comes in a stainless steel case measuring 41.5mm in diameter, with an AR-coated sapphire crystal and a screw-lock crown with ceramic inlay. Also worth noting is the fact that it is water resistant to 100 meters.

The movement is a Swiss automatic Velocissimo caliber BVL 328 (based on Zenith’s El Primero) with 45 jewels, 36,000 vph, and power reserve for 50 hours. The watch has a silicon escapement, while the dial is lacquered and polished champlevé blue and white with steel hands. It comes on a Maserati blue alligator leather strap with a steel folding clasp.

The Bulgari Octo Maserati will be released as a 1,914-piece limited edition.
