BMW launches the furious S1000R for 2014

BMW Motorrad has just lifted the wraps off the 2014 version of the stunning S1000R. They say it packs a considerably stronger punch than its counterpart, the S1000RR, superbly wrapped in lighter clothes.

Developing a whopping 160 HP (118 kW) at 11,000 RPM and 112 Nm (82.5 lb-ft) of torque at 9,250 RPM, the engine has reportedly been configured to deliver more torque while in lower revs, surpassing the 7,500 RPM mark of the S1000RR. This makes it, of course, more proper for road riding.

As stock, the bike is equipped with Race ABS, dual riding modes and ASC (Automatic Stability Control), while Dynamic suspensions come as optional. The 2014 BMW S1000R is also fitted with Road and Rain riding modes, while Dynamic Pro, Dynamic and Pro Modes are offered at will, as optionals.

Weighing at around 207 kg (457 lbs), the bike boasts a full aluminium tank. One may conclude from all these that the S1000R is exceptionally nimble, partly due to the roadster-like geometry of its frame. Styling-wise, it is one of the best-looking bikes we’ve ever come across. Yet again, there are some optionals for this matter – for example Akrapovic exhaust and all sorts of carbon fittings. Makes us wonder about the price.
