Designed to celebrate this year’s Valentine’s Day and going on with the Blancpain tradition, the Saint-Valentin Chronograph 2012 is presented by the brand. The timepieces come equipped with 2.95 carats of precious stones, mirroring the feminine design of the watch. They will only be available in a limited edition of 14 pieces.
The 36mm case of the watch is made of white gold; the crown is encased with a small diamond, the buttons come covered with cabochon-cut rubies, the tongues feature a heart-shaped ruby, the case-band is set with 4 diamonds while the lugs and bezel are set more shiny diamonds.
The dial is packed with mother-of-pearl, on it being visible 3 heart-shaped motifs and it’s surrounded by 8 diamonds. The detailing of this timepiece is outstanding, the seconds-hand being carefully painted with a feather. For the curious-figures, the back of the watch is made of sapphire crystal, making the movement totally visible.
Don’t think that the number of jewels on this watch ends here, because besides the 308 parts of the movements one can notice 37 more jewels, while the oscillating weight is covered in mother-of-pearl as well. The particular movement used here is a self-winding Calibre F185, used at the first ladies’ fly-back chronograph model.
The seconds are shown on a subdial on the front, while the date is visible through an aperture just under 12 o’clock. The elapsed minutes and hours are shown both by the hands and by the totalizers at 9 and 3 o’clock.
This timepiece, fitted with a white alligator-leather strap and beautifully packaged in a wooden-casing lined with nappa leather, can be purchased exclusively from Blancpain stores.
