It’s quite a nice achievement to earn valor and prestige by manufacturing subtle things. Bling, sparkle and weirdness are not found here, as the designers and specialists at Bang & Olufsen choose other ideas to underpin their creations. The most recent sets of speakers from the brand have been dubbed the BeoLab 15 and BeoLab 16.
They were inspired from the speakers the brand has manufactured for BMW and Mercedes-Benz, and are set into either the ceilings or the walls of the room in order to completely surround the listener with clear sound waves. They are entirely hidden inside the respective surfaces and can be jutted out or tilted in order to focus the waves towards a specific spot. They aren’t that powerful to be honest, but the 195 W of the Amplifier I are clear and pristine.
It is indeed quite difficult to ensure proper maintenance to speakers mounted inside walls. Bang & Olufsen have thought about it deeply. The cooling process, for example, is ensured by a temperature-controlled fan. Any unwanted vibrations have also been countered by Bang and Olufsen, through a top notch system called the Acoustic Balance Principal.
The retail price asked for the Bang and Olufsen BeoLab 15 and 16 is $4,595.
