Aloft Hotels, part of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts group, is introducing the latest addition to its staff: a ‘Botlr’ (robotic butler) called A.L.O.

The hotel is located where else but in Cupertino, California, near Apple’s corporate campus and is filled with Apple products. Each of the 123 rooms has its own Apple TV, which can be synced with guests` iOS devices and iTunes accounts.

A.L.O. is quite an endearing device. Described as having the work ethic of WALL-E and the humor of Rosie from The Jetsons, it is also reminiscent of one of the most iconic fictional robots, R2-D2, especially thanks to its flashing lights and beeps. But A.L.O. isn’t just some toy used to get the attention of geeks staying at the hotel. It also does its fair share of work, diligently delivering all sorts of stuff to the guest rooms. It will even politely asks for tips in the form of tweets praising its service – because robots need compliments, too!
