Tesla Motors – and seemingly everything billionaire/mad genius Elon Musk touches – is awesome. Great, now that we’ve got that out the way, let us introduce the 2015 Tesla Model S P85D, the newest addition to the very successful electric car company’s lineup.
In appearance, it’s basically your standard Model S, but if you look deeper you’ll find plenty of cool improvements. The new model is an all-wheel-drive which packs quite a punch, featuring two motors (one for each axle) outputting a hefty 691 hp and 687 lb-ft of torque – which allows the vehicle to accelerate from a standstill to 62 mph in a lightning-fast 3.2 seconds. As good as this sounds for those who would like an opportunity to tame such a beast, Tesla has also included a new driver-assist systems, with an auto-pilot solution for self-parking. The vehicle also boasts an improvement in range, with the figure now standing at 275 miles, or about 440 km (10 miles or 16 km more than the Model S P85).
Pricing for the 2015 version of the Tesla Model S P85D starts at $120,000 (yes, we’re still a long ways away from the affordable Tesla Elon Musk has promised). Deliveries are expected to begin in the next few months.
