Planned to debut at the 2012 Auto Show in Beijing, China, the newest Porsche Cayenne GTS 2013 edition has been presented by the fabled automaker a couple of days ago. We need to make it clear that this is not just an SUV. It actually is extremely close to a supercar, but with an additional package of off-road supporting parts.

The current edition boasts a more powerful motor, revised chassis and lower ride height. It’s classified somewhere between the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo, with enough performance to make your eye-balls pop out. This GTS’ V8 engine develops 420 HP (309 kW) sent to the wheels via an 8-speed Tip-tronic S gearbox, with an integrated start/stop function. This allows the 2013 GTS to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in approximately 5.7 seconds and 160 km/h in 13.3 seconds.

In addition, it is able to reach a top speed of 261 km/h with an average fuel consumption of a stunningly low 10.7 liters per 100 km. These characteristics are, of course, aided by its strong chassis, backed by the new Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) developed by Porsche themselves. The 24 mm lower ride height than the S edition allows for more grip and downforce.

In terms of looks, the 2013 Cayenne GTS boasts Turbo edition’s front end, with added prominent side skirts, wider wheel arches, noticeably different roof spoiler and glossy black frames and trims. The interior, as usually, is decked with Alcantara elements and leather as standard, while the front seats can be positioned in 8 different styles.

The manufacturer has reportedly set its price starting at 90,774 euro per unit, with availability starting July 2012.
