Produced in a limited run of just 5 Pieces, this timepiece already sounds exclusive and incredibly desirable. Zenith has designed a special edition of their Pilot Type 20 timepiece as a tribute to the impressive life of Louis Blériot, the great French aviator, inventor and engineer, who became famous all over the world for making the first flight across the English channel back in 1909.
The watch is actually called “Hommage a Louis Blériot” and features a lovely 18k white gold bezel, with lugs and crown made from the same material and a sapphire display back that’s able to resist depths of up to 30 meters.
Movement is ensured by an in-house, pocket-watch caliber from Zenith with 19 jewels, 18,000 vph and a power reserve of 48 hours. If that sounds a bit sounds complicated, that’s because it is, making this timepiece all the more exquisite.
Hand-engraved with a depiction of Louis Blériot’s impressive journey across the English Channel, the timepiece also shows off a meteorite dial, with Arabic numerals and SuperLuminova coating. Also worth mentioning is the black alligator leather strap, with a protective rubber lining and an 18kt white gold pin buckle. A worthy homage to Louis Blériot, right?
