Drawing on her 25 years of experience in designing jewelry, Karen Karch creates glamorous pieces of jewelry for those who aren’t afraid of being a bit unconventional.

After graduating the prestigious Parsons School of Design in 1989, she immediately started to dazzle with her unique creations. Karch opened her first boutique, named Push, on Mulberry Street in New York’s Nolita neighborhood and subsequently renamed her brand and opened a new store in Gramercy Park in 2006. Over the years, her clientele has grown to include celebrities such as Celine Dion, David Bowie, Shailene Woodley, Michelle Williams, Britney Spears, Mariska Hargitay, Vincent D’Onofrio, Courtney Love, and Megan Fox.

The thing about Karen Karch’s creations is that, while certainly possessing a certain beauty, their idiosyncratic nature means that they might sometimes be a bit challenging to pull off, as the designer sometimes draws her inspiration from real life ‘inconsistencies’ (the Belgian Tiara Ring, for instance, was inspired by a photo of Queen Elisabeth of Belgium wearing a tiara upside down on her head). Corals are mixed with diamonds, colored stones are put together in intriguing combinations, and precious metals are shaped in unusual ways.

Still, it’s exactly this free and open approach to designing that has won Karen Kerch so many admirers – and you can get a glimpse of her work in the gallery below.
