Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur

We’ve thought of heading towards the Asian Continent for today’s hotel heading, to the staggering Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur. The hotel is glamorously located just five kilometers away from Jodhpur International Airport (JDH) – this will take around 20 minutes by car.

I have to be honest, I was completely baffled by the looks of this place and I’m seriously thinking of going on a trip to India. Part of Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces and Taj Group, Umaid Bhawan Palace used to be the home of Jodhpur’s royal family. This is, in fact, one of the most beautiful palaces in India. As you get past the doors, you stumble upon a massively luxurious lobby, with enormous domed ceilings above a patterned marble floor that extends outwards from a superbly arranged central seating spot.

The hotel comprises a total of 75 rooms and suites, former accommodation facilities of one of the biggest ex-residences in the world. Apart from the Art-Deco Royal suites providing breathtaking panoramas of the courtyard’s fountain and the gorgeously decked Maharani Suite with etched black glass, pink and mirror accents, each room can be considered an epitome of luxury and opulence.

There’s a need for relaxation as well, therefore the functionality of the Jiva Grande Spa is revealed. It is there where guests can enjoy rejuvenating traditional aromatherapy. Guests can also relax by playing a game of squash, dipping in the Zodiac Pool surrounded by the murals of Stefan Norblin, or enjoy the tasty culinary traditions of Jodhpur – Pyaaj Kachori, Hot Spicy Mirchibada or Makhaniya Lassi. Nightly rates start at INR 18,000 or $329.
