McLaren has unveiled the new 650S Sprint, a powerful track-only vehicle set to replace the 12C Sprint model.
Featuring an inverse color scheme to the 650S GT3, the 650S Sprint comes with a black and orange over white livery, in addition to a range of upgrades over the road-going model, which include more downforce and better cooling for the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. The manufacturer hasn’t said anything about increasing the output, however it was specified that the engine and gearbox have been recalibrated, making them more suitable for the track.
Other features and improvements include a competition-spec fuel tank with quick-fill cap, enlarged radiator, retuned suspension, Pirelli racing slicks on 19-inch center-lock wheels, upgraded brakes, on-board air jack system, fire suppression system and a stripped-out cabin with FIA-approved roll cage, HANS-ready racing buckets, and six-point harnesses.
The McLaren 650S Sprint is priced in the UK at £198,000 (including local taxes), which is about $330,000 – quite a lot for a vehicle which can only be used on the track. But when you have that kind of money to spare, utility is of little concern, especially if we’re talking about such an impressive vehicle.
