After opening a sandwich café at Harrods, British designer Tom Dixon is once again in the headlines with his great new home accessories collections. Made using materials such as copper, crystal, and cast iron, it consists of everyday objects which have been given a bit of a facelift, thus becoming something much more impressive, almost artistic even.
First of all, there are the Tank vessels, mouth-blown glass containers with copper hand-painted over them, intended for displaying long-stemmed roses, or any other kind of large flowers. Then there’s the Cube collection, featuring minimalistic, block-shaped stationery like a tape dispenser, a stapler, a desk tidy, and a series of pens, all of the once again covered in copper.
The Trove consists of a series of cast iron storage boxer with a stylish matte black finish. Making the pieces even more attractive are their pressed glass lids, which magnify the objects inside of them, which is a very interesting touch.
The collections will be showcased at the Maison & Objet trade fair at the Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center near Paris from 23 to 27 January.
