It’s getting increasingly difficult for new, original watches to make their way through the crowd and capture our imagination. Despite this, some brands stay true to their commitment to beauty and quality, and Vacheron Constantin is definitely among them.
Ten talented artisans have reinterpreted traditional art forms like Ottoman architecture, Chinese embroidery, Indian manuscripts and French lacework to create new watches that are now part of the collection first launched two years ago, the Vacheron Constantin Métiers d’Art Fabuleux Ornements.
Each of these watches feature a hand-engraved movement, specifically the calibre ultra-thin 1003 in 18K gold. The back side comes with a chamfered and hand-drawn finish, while the brand’s artisans employed Grand Feu champlevé enamelling and hand engraving techniques to create these exquisite designs.
Round-cut diamonds, sapphires, embroidery, glyptic art, hand engraved gold leaves and pistils are all wonderful ways of embellishing watches. The Swiss manual-wind Vacheron caliber has 18 jewels, 18,000 vph and a power reserve of 31 hours, housed within 18kt of white or pink gold casing. Double sapphire crystals with water resistance to 30 meters are also part of each timepiece.
As a finishing touch, Vacheron Constantin will have their products adorn your wrist with the aid of alligator leather straps that boast an 18kt white or pink gold buckle in the shape of a half Maltese cross-shaped set with 21 round-cut diamonds. Writing a Christmas list has just become more difficult.
