I’m not against elegant timepieces, don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore them, but whenever I see one looking so sci-fi as this Rebellion T-1000 Gotham, I have to admit I’m completely baffled.

Its predecessor, the Rebellion T-1000, was first unveiled on the occasion of the Baselworld 2010, but this one here is the Gotham limited edition of that. This reedition is available in different color options for the central movement like natural and blacked titanium, purple, blue, gold or red. The name of the watch comes from the power reserve, which ensures 1,000 hours of functionality, courtesy of 6 miniature barrels forming the core section of the movement. The movement and the case themselves were penned down by Eric Giroud.

The 6 barrels are harmonically tied to each other with 2 finely tuned chains, providing the main working mechanism with full function and control. The chain also helps distributing the energy  accurately, on a continuous basis. A significantly larger part of the movement is the winding lever, providing 10 times better winding force than other mechanical movements. Thanks to the huge amount of energy generated on a single winding, the reserve is able to stretch to a whopping 1,000 hours.

The display is quite intricate yet we find it very interesting – time is shown via 2 rollers on the main dial. The left roller displays the hours, while the right roller shows the minutes, both being encased by the superbly colored avional, in the tone of your choice. The core piece sports 693 components, including the central barrel movement, beating at 18,000 times per hour. The case is crafted from DLC-coated titanium.

The rear side of the watch boasts a one off clasp with high gloss finished aluminium, alongside black alligator leather strapping tying the watch to the wearer’s wrist. In addition, the timepiece boasts with 50-meter water resistance and comes as a limited edition of just 25 units.
