Horacio Pagani has recently announced that the Pagani Huayra will be finally launched in the United States around June 2013. This comes to prove the rumors about Pagani’s initial intentions of selling it in the States.
Pagani has sent a request to exempt the Huayra from being equipped with airbags, but it was immediately rejected. This has happened during the last summer. This rejection has driven the fabled Italian manufacturer of supercars to spend an additional €4 million (around $5.1 million) to install “smart” airbags into the Huayra to satisfy U.S’. regulations.
Sadly, this was pretty much a loss of money and time for Pagani, considering that only 15 cars will ever make it to the United States of America. They are all equipped with 6.0-liter biturbo V12 engines, from AMG, delivering 720 HP (537 kW) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque.
The resulting figures are quite astounding – acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.3 seconds and a maximum speed of 370 km/h (230 mph).
